Hi!

1 min read

Hii everybody! I'm just dropping in to say hi. I hope everyone is doing well. Are you still active? I realised I got 100k page views! Thanks guys. Big boy appreciate.

I moved to Japan six months ago. It's been a nice experience and a dream come true for me. We'll be getting a cat in a month! I'm really looking forward to that.

Hope all is well and happy holidays and impending 2022!

Hello friends, I haven't posted a journal in a long time. I just wanted to say hello and I hope everyone is having a nice time in jail, as my Grandma is calling it. xD

I hope somehow we all become zen from this experience and stay that way forever. I'm saving about 6 hours per week from not commuting so I'm getting a lot done (in Animal Crossing).

Hello friends,

I normally post around my birthday in March, but I was not able to this year.

This year, I turned 30. My actual birthday feels like a long time ago now, haha. I took myself on a solo trip to Sofia, Bulgaria (any Bulgarians following me?), which was a wonderful experience in a beautiful city.

I spent the rest of my actual birthday doing ashkey things, and then at the end of the week my close friend :iconsnapshot-draws-junk: died.

That was two weeks ago tonight. To be honest, I feel like a dead shell of a human. I feel like I've been trapped in a void where April is unending torture and March was a million miles ago.

I've just been decluttering my life and reevaluating my priorities. We have limited time on this earth and I don't want to waste it.

Happy 2019!!

Hello dA!!! I haven't posted a journal in forever.

Happy new year!! I hope we can all make progress towards our goals this year.

2018 was a strange year for me. I started off the year with a friend calling me and having a mental breakdown, three members of my household and family died in the spring, and I had a piriformis injury from over-exercise that resulted in a rotated hip, which has been incredibly painful and discouraging. On the positive end, I was able to travel to Denmark, South Korea, and back to my old home Hong Kong and my hometown in Canada, and within the US: San Francisco, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Arches National Park, and a few mountain locations within Colorado, where I live. My chronic arm injury pain has improved a lot but it's taking its sweet time to recover.

My goals for 2019 are mostly to relax more, since I tend to overwork, and actually make some progress in my 14 years of studying and forgetting Japanese, lol. I'm working on applications for postgraduate school, which will hopefully become a thing >_< Also I'll be severely restricting my commission load from now on, so I can be faster with them and not feel overloaded and actually be able to do personal art again. I'm hoping to get back into doing ACEO trades again this year!!

I've completely organised and cleaned my studio for the near year. It feels so fresh! First photo is when I was about half done.
Yikes

I'm moving this year so it was good to go through everything!

Here's to a fulfilling year!!

RSI Treatment

2 min read
A super long time ago I posted about having pain in my drawing/writing arm. It was 10 years ago as of this past March, and the pain has started getting consistently worse after years of being stagnant.

So I said fuck you lil arm and fuck you everyone who just looked at me sadly when I complained about pain, and I went to an acupuncture doctor! After a full decade of chronic pain, he diagnosed me with lateral epicondylitis (aka tennis elbow, without the elbow pain). Basically, there's some tissue where the muscle connects to the bone that's torn, and it can't heal because I continue to do the things that originally damaged it. I've been prepared to deal with this pain for the rest of my life, but when I asked the doctor if I could even be pain-free he just said lol yea

Just. omg

So I have to relearn how to hold a pencil and draw with my arm instead of wrist, and a few other extremely minor things in comparison to everything I had to give up to continue drawing (using a mouse, basically using my hands for anything, carrying anything with my fingers, etc)

I just wanna put this out into the universe, because probably 70% of the artists I know have complained of wrist or arm pain. If you've developed pain from art, overwork, weird habits, or anything, it's probably possible to deal with without just giving up art. I went to a Chinese medicine doctor because it's been way more successful for me than western medicine, with every issue I've ever had (menstrual pain, nerve issues, and sports injuries), and also because it's way cheaper lol

I've spent the last half of my 20s healing from various issues, emotional and physical. Our bodies and minds what to heal and be healthy; they don't want to experience pain. We get a lot of weird ideas and habits from our parents, like my mom who was too poor and busy to visit the doctor growing up, and my dad who doesn't know how to rest.

This is kind of a mind dump but I wanted to put it out there in case there's anyone else like me out there that it can potentially resonate with. !!!
